Fun in the Sun

This past weekend was one of our nicest of the summer so we thought we would celebrate the beautiful weather with some outdoor fun. We got Maya her first kiddie pool and spent practically every spare minute playing and splashing in it. We thought the cold water would initially turn Maya off of it and hoped that the sun would warm it up quickly but to our surprise, she didn't mind the temperature at all. Her love of being in and around the water trumped the potential discomfort of the cold water and she made the most of it. She loved crawling in and out of the pool and thoroughly enjoyed being outside with mommy & daddy. The epitome of a perfect day for Maya is getting to be outside and playing in the water at the same time. She took every advantage of it.

Here is a video that I took of her the first time she got in the pool. Again it's a bit long but if you have the time, enjoy!

First dip in the pool.

She liked to show what a big girl she is by getting in and out of the pool herself.

Thanks for the pool mommy & daddy!

There is just something about a beautiful summer day that makes everything a bit better and life a bit easier. Having a toddler can be difficult some days with diapers, communication frustrations, teaching and trying to model patience and kindness and nothing short of having an entire life to mold and shape can be overwhelming at times. Thankfully I know that God is our strength and our guide and he faithfully gives us reprieves and sometimes it comes in the form of swimsuits, picnics outside, endless butterflies to chase and all the beauty of our own backyard to entertain and bring peace for us all. We rested in that peace this weekend and very much enjoyed a relaxing time of family. We didn't tend to the weeds in the flower bed or host another get together. Although we do love working in our yard and entertaining friends, we spent the weekend just the three of us and loved every minute of it. And after Maya went to bed, Jay and I opened a bottle of wine, cuddled under a blanket, lit a fire on the deck and enjoyed a little date. A weekend to remember.

I LOVE waking up in the morning, making my espresso, sitting at the computer and getting my fix of Maya for the day as I watch the videos of her playing. Nothing better to ensure I have a fantastic day!!! Love you Maya (mommy and daddy too)
See you all again real soon
