On April 29th we celebrated Maya's first birthday but we had another party for her on May 30th along with all the babies that were born from our prenatal class. We have remained quite close to the parents and babies from our class (which trained us in natural childbirth called the Bradley Method). It was a 3 month course so we all grew quite close as we shared a very special common bond and have gotten together a few times over the last year to reconnect and see our children growing. So it was a wonderful idea to get them all together for a 1st birthday party. We booked a Gymboree gymnasium and all met for a private playtime and then cupcakes and muffins, candles and presents. It was so much fun to see how all the kids had grown and their little personalities develop. In true Maya form, she did not want to do any of the things that the Gymboree teacher had planned for us. If it was time to play with the parachute, then Maya wanted to play with the balls and if was time to play with the tunnels then Maya wanted to climb the play structure. You can't make that girl do anything. But it's pretty hard to have structured playtime for 1 year olds so we mostly just let the kids run around and enjoy all the colorful, padded toys and climbing structures.
Climbing and sliding with daddy
The kids are all playing on top of the gym with bubbles but Maya is nowhere to be found.......
.....and she found it. She LOVED the little basketball net to daddy's great happiness!
Then there was some fun time with the big colorful parachute and cake and presents for the kids. It was a great way to celebrate this beautiful milestone for our children. We are very blessed to have made such great friends through this class.
I have to add in these pictures because they make me laugh and show the tempermental and yet so sweet personality of our little girl. Keep in mind that these pictures were taken within about a minute and I'm posting them in the sequence they were taken so you can see how she switches on those tears as fast as she turns them off. Melts my heart and makes me laugh at the same time.

Glad your computer is fixed and you are back to blogging... I missed it while you were gone!!! Looks like all the kids had a great time at their big birthday bash. Maya's just like her mom.
I had a similar thing happen to my laptop a few months ago. I was relieved that I posted so many pics to the blog and Facebook, so the best were still out there.
The birthday party looks like it was fun. Maya seems to have a very independent and adventurous spirit.
I love the series of pics at the end. Such a big range of emotion in such a short time!
