Another visit to Saskatchewan

At the beginning of June, Maya and I took another trip to Saskatchewan to visit our family. We hadn't been there since February so we booked Maya's 7th plane trip (16 if you count all the times she has been in a plane) and planned to stay for a week. Unfortunately Jason had to work so this would be our first solo trip without daddy. It wasn't easy travelling alone with a toddler and not having Jay around for the week was difficult but we managed. However, it sure made us both realize how much daddy does and we missed him alot. Sometimes it takes a little time apart to remind you of how blessed you are and makes you appreciate it all the more. We love daddy!!

Fortunately Maya cut all her eye teeth and all her first year molars by the time we left on our trip so for the most part she was a very happy traveller. We visited with baba (my grandma) who could not get enough of her great granddaughter. She took Maya proudly into her garden and showed her the row of peas she had planted just for her. I don't think anyone else will get any of those special peas. She also showed her the "this little piggy" nursery rhyme with Maya's toes and Maya really liked that. I loved seeing Maya with grandma. Grandma would even get down on the floor to play with her - at 80 years old, that is just amazing! We are so thankful that she is able to really enjoy her great granddaughter.

Maya also spent some time with her cousins. All of her cousins are boys ranging in age from 19 months old to 12 years old but she managed to keep up with them.

It was so much fun watching Maya play with her cousins and interact with them. She chased little Joe (or Joe chased her....I don't think even they were sure who was chasing who) around and around until they were tired and then played together with her toys. Even though they were baby toys, the boys were so good with her and they had a really good time.

My mom took such great care of Maya and I while we were in PA and that made the transition so much easier for Maya. She made sure that Maya had all the food she needed, even going all the way to Saskatoon to get her organic milk and eggs. And she even spent days before cleaning out the spare room and set it up to be a perfect room for Maya even equipped with a change table and just the perfect space for her bed. And if that wasn't enough, she also organized a big BBQ with the rest of my family so we could get visits with everybody. Thanks for all the work you did for us mom - you are amazing!! The BBQ was a great night with lots of laugh and card games and Darcie, Chris and I stayed up quite late playing Settlers of Catan but it was worth it. Family time always is. Unfortunately I forgot my camera for most of the events but fortunately my brother did not. He has a professional Nikon camera and is a FABULOUS photographer. He seemed to love snapping shots of Maya and before we knew it he had taken over 200 pictures of her. I am going to post some of my favorites. One of them I even blew up and framed for Jason for Father's Day. Thanks Dax for capturing some great memories!

A cuddle after her nap!

Some love for her favorite pooch, Nico and Auntie Tanya.

Sad Maya. I love that lone tear on her cheek.

My sweetheart!

Maya & I with uncle Dax!

Happy girls!

This is the picture that I framed for Jason for Father's Day. It is by far my favorite picture of her!

Wonderful pics! What a great gift!

Sounds like you had a really nice time. Travelling alone with kids is certainly a lot more stressful than havinga helper. I hope it went well enough that you'd take her again by yourself.

I think planting peas just for someone is such neat idea.

Grandma & Baba again... missing everyone but so happy for the blog and being able to be reminded how wonderful your visit was. Baba is so in awe of how you articulate every detail of your life and is blessed to have such wonderful grandchildren and now a great-granddaughter that she loves SOOOOO much. (Baba loves the pic of Maya and the big tear on her cheek... she thinks that's the picture of when she made Maya cry) She still can't believe how she hurt Maya's feelings but just saying one word and she wants to give Maya a big hug and kiss. Miss you all.
