Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool....

We signed up Maya for swimming lessons at the beginning of the year. Well....not really lessons but more like splashing, singing, games and more splashing. Jason takes her every Saturday for some daughter/daddy time and I watch and take pictures. We are so happy that Maya loves the water so much because so do we. We anticipate many fun summers in Saskatchewan at the lake. We like the swimming lessons so much that the last two weeks we have gone back to the pool on Sunday for an afternoon of more swimming.
One of the things that the swimming instructor does is have the babies sit on the edge of the pool and "jump" into the water into the parent's arms. Maya didn't seem to have any trepidation and just leaped in. We have a video of it below.
Likely one of the things that Maya likes to do most at the pool is float in the river. The pool has a river that is a a sort of figure 8 shape with a current. We put Maya in a lifejacket and she lies on her back in the water and enjoys the ride. She doesn't mind that the water is swirling around her head. She completely trusts that she'll be okay and just relaxes. It's too fun to watch. We have a video of that below too. Enjoy!

This past week has certainly been full of excitement as we are getting used to having a very mobile Maya around the house. She is very fast and interested in exporing everywhere and everything. Mostly shiny, blinking things like the DVD player or the laptop but we are trying to be consistent in telling and showing her what she can and cannot play with and amazingly enough, she also seems to be understanding and is doing a very good job of listening...for the most part. She keeps us on our toes. We can't turn our back for a second though. The other day I was doing laundry and before I knew it, she was into the clothes. I just sat back and laughed as she played with the laundry basket and threw the clothes everywhere. She amused herself with that task for a half hour. Perhaps she was trying to help mommy?? Guess I'll never know.

What great memories! I am not sure I could have sat back and laughed when my laundry got tossed. Good for you to delight in the moment!

Were you at the Airdre pool? It looks familiar. Great way to spend the weekend!
