We are getting into the swing of Christmas around here. We put up our Christmas tree and decorated the house last week. Maya is in awe of all the lights and seems to love the season as much as we do. We have also been spending time with friends trying to get in some local celebrations before we head back to Saskatchewan for Christmas. Last Saturday we went over to Stan and Elaine's for a beautiful holiday dinner. Stan was Jason's first boss when we moved here 10 years ago and has been a sort of mentor to Jason. He and his wife are an elderly couple (in their late 60's I think) and just love to take care of others. They were very eager to meet little Maya before she got too big. They also offered to be surrogate grandparents for Maya in Calgary and told us to drop her off at their place anytime; which is sweet. I just may take them up on that offer very soon so I can get some Christmas shopping done. I love the picture of Maya on Stan's knee. It reminds me of my grandfather (Maya's great grandpa) who passed away 5 years ago and never got to know his first great grandchild. He would have loved Maya and she certainly would have had him wrapped around her little finger.
This past week was busy with entertaining. We had our friends Jenn & Alan over for dinner on Thursday night and we had a wonderful time. They are recently married and we were able to attend their beautiful wedding in Palm Springs this past October. They are wonderful friends and appointed auntie and uncle to Maya. She has so many people that love her.
Saturday, Jenn, Clark and Callianna came over for dinner and we exchanged gifts for the girls. Calli gave Maya a dump truck big enough to sit in; I forsee that toy being a favorite. Who said trucks are only for boys?? It was so fun to see the girls playing together. They are only 5 weeks apart and I suspect will be lifelong friends - like their mommies.

Hey! I feel honoured that Callianna made it onto your blog already! This is pretty cool! Good for you... it will be neat to see how many people log on and the impact you can have through your day to day testimony!
Love you,
Jenn
I love the lights in the window.
It's great that Maya has a little friend around her age. It's fun to watch them parallel play, then start to interact as they get older.
