We took Benjamin for his 2 week check up with the midwives on Wednesday and he is indeed GROWING!! He was born a healthy 9 lbs 1 oz and our midwives say that a bigger baby is always better because they tend to thrive more often, have less health problems and with the expected weight loss before a mother's milk comes in, they have more weight available to lose and therefore generally do better as babies. As a rule, the midwives expect that a healthy baby will get back to their birth weight by the two week mark. Our little guy had no problem with that. Not only did he get back to his birth weight but managed to gain almost 2 lbs on top of it. At 2 weeks, he weighed in at 10 lbs 12 oz!! Not surprising though. Maya did the same thing going from 7 lbs to 9 lbs by the 2 week mark. Jason says I must have super milk - just call me Dairy Queen! So from a health perspective, Benjamin Paul Carter is getting off to a great start. He is eating and sleeping, not to mention pooping, well. He makes us laugh with his funny faces and is a big blessing in a little (well not that little, I guess) package! Just love him!
This picture cracks us up. Somehow we managed to get those elusive newborn smiles on camera.
Beautiful boy
