The sound of music....

We finally signed up Maya for Kindermusic class.  Maya has always shown a fondness for music and we've wanted to put her in a fun music class for a while now but had not found a good day/time that worked for our family.  Recently our local community center opened up a Kindermusic class on Saturdays so we jumped at the opportunity.  The class consists of singing, exploring rhythm, beat and movement and learning to play instruments.  Initially Maya wanted to just run around and play and didn't like having to follow rules and instructions but after a few classes she began to anticipate the times when she would get to dance and it seemed to make the times that she had to sit still easier.  It's been a good experience for her to learn to play and interact within boundaries in a group setting and we are proud of how she is handling it.

Part of our class fees include workbooks to take home as well as a harmonic to play.  It was so cute watching Maya learn to make music with the harmonica - how the act of blowing into it creates a musical sound.  Cause and effect.  It took a little work but she eventually got it.  Here is a video of her learning to play.  Enjoy!
